The Chrome Box

The Chrome Box do you really need anything else? This is one of those inventions that when I first seen it demoed some years ago I thought who would want that? But after working with one and finding out that it does almost 98% of what people do on a full computer I now know that it will work for most of you reading this. As computer users we spend almost 98% of our time on the Internet just watch how much time you spend during the day using e-mail and browsing the web. Even our calendar programs are online. … Continue reading

Personal Assistant

When one company begins to shows a little profit on a innovative idea there will always be someone out there to try to cash in on their success. Not that I think the Amazon Echo is a huge success but they were the first to the table with this idea. Now we have Google that owns the world, at least the part that was left by Face Book has now released the Google Home. Let me first say if you are getting to lazy to pick up your smart phone, roll back over in bed and just forget life all … Continue reading

IPhone 7

The Iphone 7 has arrived! Really the way I see it it’s really nothing to get to excited about. Why would I say this when people are flocking to the stores to get their hands on one? It’s easy, innovation is by it’s very term adding something new to the table. When you take a product and remove something it might be a step backwards? Or is it in reality a great marketing tool? So this is what I am thinking. Apple people are sitting around and they are talking about how to make more money with a product that … Continue reading

Larger Phones Less Tablets?

I have the opportunity to get a shinny new iPhone 6 under the Verizon Edge plan. My first thought is that I know I want to get the 64 Gig. I have a 5C now with 16 Gig and it always seems full. As I have been looking at others who have the new iPhone I have been asking if I should get the Plus 5.5″? The first person I talked to told me “YES!” She says that she never uses her iPad any longer. She tells me she can watch movies on it and read books. The next person … Continue reading

Syncing Folders and Files Across Clouds

I was thinking this morning, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to sync or upload your files or folders to the cloud without having to go into each service or folder to do so? Let’s face it. If you are like me you might have more then one cloud based storage service. Google Drive, Drop Box, iCloud or OneDrive, you might even have some that I don’t. But if you have any of these what do you use them for? The second part of my issue is that I have files and folders all over the place. My thought … Continue reading

Uses For A 7″ Tablet

One great use for my new 7″ Toshiba Encore Tablet is to use it as a media watching device while you are working out. I found the TWIT.TV app for Windows 8.1 and it works well. One question on this app is, why do they charge $1.49 for the Windows app but the IOS app I think is FREE? I am still waiting for the keyboard and case I ordered for this tablet. I am also hoping that the new 10.1″ tablet I ordered will be in soon. But for now if you have a 7″ tablet there is a … Continue reading

Still Reviewing The 7″ Tablet Form Factor

I connected a blue tooth keyboard up to the Toshiba 7″ Encore Tablet and I must say it is a lot easier to type this post. Since this is the second post about this little tablet let’s talk a minute about some of the trade offs you might want to consider when buying a smaller tablet compared to the 10″ models. First is the screen size itself. You will either need good eye sight or reading glasses when you work with this or any 7″ tablet.  The touch keyboards. They are good for taking quick notes but if you really … Continue reading

Shopping Online

Back in the day when I owned my Internet Service people were very scared to post any personal information. All of this has changed and now we have our entire lives online. Shopping online has really taken off over the years. Today there are people who never go to a brick and mortar store. This is because shopping online is just so convenient. You please a order and in a few day’s your order is sitting on your front porch. The main thing to remember when you are shopping online is to watch the web address in your address bar. … Continue reading

Cell Phone Gaming

It amazes me how many kids of all ages I see playing on their parents cell phones. Did you ever wonder who that two or three year old might be calling? Grandma or grand pap maybe? Not at all, the kids are being entertained with games on the cell phone. These games are normally placed there by the mother who knows how to keep her children calm and relaxed. I have to admit I have Flappy Bird on my iPhone. I have found when I am at a doctors office or sometimes just sitting in the recliner I like to … Continue reading

Backup Power

In today’s world with all of the power we have being used for so many reasons and the draw that we are always putting on the main power grids could lead us to outages. Even with the storms of today and high winds having our power lines hanging on poles could lead to darkness in our homes. Even if we don’t have a full power outage, we could and many times a day do experience what is known as power spikes. This is when the voltage in our house my go from a steady 110 volts and leap to 110.5 … Continue reading
